SUPPORTED PRODUCTION: EXITS

SUPPORTED PRODUCTION: EXITS

A New Georges Supported Production! Last summer, seeking antidotes to the isolation artists were feeling, we asked some where they lived, found colleagues within walking or biking distance, and connected ’em up! One group of four — Rachel Gita Karp, Deneen Reynolds-Knott, Emerie Snyder, and Dina Vovsi — met in Fort Greene Park. They decided to make something. Now that something is here!

It’s EXITS

An audio-theatrical journey through Fort Greene, the same Brooklyn neighborhood where they met up last summer. Using physical distance and aural intimacy, EXITS connects you with beloved community spaces we’ve departed because of COVID-19 and beyond.

4 lead artists, 4 stories: experience the aural shadow of BAM’s DanceAfrica Bazaar from the mind of a child; ride the Fulton Street Elevated Rail Line through time, space, love, loss, and healing; explore the longing for human touch from a book’s perspective at Greenlight Bookstore; and tune in to a time-traveling radio show to hear callers who’ve visited one particular block of South Portland Avenue throughout history.
