Wow!! We’re absolutely thrilled to receive the 2019 Outstanding Theatre Award from the National Theatre Conference, and proud to follow the incredible theaters who are prior recipients of this award and to join the inspiring recipients of NTC’s other awards this year — Donnetta Lavinia Graves, Robert O’Hara and Jeremy O. Harris.
Big thanks to Mindi Dickstein for nominating us, and to NTC’s awards committee, including Seattle Children’s Theatre artistic director Courtney Sale, who wrote, “New Georges started the party before anyone knew they wanted it. Ahead of their time, they continue to to innovate and play a critical role for emerging artists. The track record of artists is incredible.”
Best yet, the Outstanding Theatre gets to name the recipient of NTC’s Emerging Professional Award. We chose Deadria Harrington — our Associate Director/Producer and a member of the Producing Artistic Leadership Team of The Movement Theatre Company, currently touring their beautiful hit, Aleshea Harris’ What to Send Up When It Goes Down, to Woolly Mammoth, A.R.T and more. We will be part of a discussion and pick up our awards at the Conference on December 7!
